Showcase: Team BDS LEC 2023 Creative Direction

On this page, I’m showcasing the creative direction for the Team BDS LEC 2023 project, which I led as Head of Content. I was responsible for the overall creative strategy, including visual design, video production, and community activations. This page highlights key elements such as visual identity, matchday templates, and community engagement initiatives. I also managed media day planning and global social media distribution, including ambassador collaborations and caster packages. Our approach has received praise, including commendations from industry figures like Eefje "Sjokz" Depoortere.

Visual Identity

I conceptualized a young, urban, and premium visual style for 2023, aiming to resonate with our target audience. Collaborating with photographers Johnny Nghiem and Tyron Blanc, we captured Berlin’s dynamic street scenes, portraying our LEC players in relatable everyday scenarios. By utilizing strong analog photography, we enhanced the authenticity of our content. This fresh aesthetic not only uplifted our social media presence but also connected deeply with our community.

Matchday Coverage

We integrated these visual elements seamlessly into matchday graphics, often using white space to retain a sleek, elegant look. A standout innovation was the introduction of quadroscoping gifs for result visuals, a format never before used in matchday graphics. These unique visuals were produced using analog cameras, setting a new standard for engagement.

For matchday skits, Martin (@chapaupointu) and I created nine segments, co-produced with yung eldr in MFX broadcast format. These skits aired on the official LEC broadcast, reaching an average of 290,000 viewers and driving over 470,000 views on Twitter, generating unparalleled engagement for our organization.

High-quality video content is available throughout the year, and examples can be found in the Videos tab.
